About Bill Douglass :
With a passion for music and fifteen years of professional experience, Bill Douglass has had a colorful and rewarding career. Though fifteen years by comparison to other music producing moguls isn't as extensive, Bill has had quite the jam packed musical experience. Starting his journey to producing and engineering was always forefront in his life. Bill started his path to recording and producing at the mere age of ten. In 1981, Bill's father gifted him a tape recorder, which Bill then used to record cassette tracks of himself yelling, TV shows, and recording his grandfather playing the piano. From the beginning of his life, Bill was influenced by classical music, but at the age of twelve, Bill started to crave a harder beat; a beat that could only be felt in heavy metal. With a major influence by childhood friends, Bill decided that drumming was his calling. After joining his Catholic school band, Bill's father bought him a drum set, fulfilling a part of Bill that would stay with him forever. rnrnWhile in his first couple of years drumming, Bill joined a band called "Archer", which he frequently recorded with his recording deck and Radio Shack mics. Although his recordings didn't sell, they laid the foundation for his future career. After walking away from "Archer" in 1987, Bill was approached by a producer who's son needed a drummer for his band. "Vision", his new band, had a sound closer to what Bill was looking for, but still wasn't what he was really happy with. Two years drumming between "Vision" and then his last exclusive drumming project, Montemayor, provided a spring board for Bill to launch into his current adventure. "BZKT"(Biscuit) was born in Carbondale, Illinois with his good friend, Eric Bonner, right before Bill moved to Phoenix. Bill has had a wild time playing with new sounds and outlandishly fun music which takes some of it's influence from Frank Zappa and "Ween". Eric and Bill parted ways in 1992 for a short while, so that Bill could go to The Conservatory of the Recording Arts and Sciences in Phoenix, Arizona. Bill chose to begin his career as an intern at Streeterville Studios in Chicago after being offered placement in New York and Los Angeles. After settling in at Streeterville, Bill was privileged to intern under first engineers Steve Spapperi, Brad Wood, Rob Russell, Ben Grosse and Jeff Moleski. During his time at Streeterville Studios, Bill worked with such talent as "The Smashing Pumpkins", "Filter", "The Crystal Method", "Los Hurracanes del Norte", and "The Mighty Blue Kings". Two years into his stint with Streeterville Studios, Bill was approached by Hank Neuberger of Chicago Recording Company (CRC) with a job offer. Since it was an offer that he could not pass up, he soon started with CRC and expanded his career greatly. rnrnThe six years that Bill spent in CRC was important for his musical engineering career. Chris Shepard, Allen Moulder, Flood, Danny Leake, Steven George, Troy Hightower, Brad Wood, and Ron Fair became important mentors in Bill's engineering profession. In 1998 Bill was honored with the opportunity to be a part of his first platinum record production which he was able to do several more times before ending his time with CRC. While at CRC, his involvement in hit records wasn't his only accomplishment. His list of work involved, but wasn't limited to R. Kelly, Trent Reznor of "Nine Inch Nails", Ramsey Lewis, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Lisa Marie Presley, Moby, "The Red Hot Chili Peppers", Dave Matthews, Christina Aguilera, "N'Sync" and "Bauhaus". Though he was happy to work at CRC, Bill's days at work ranged from ten to sixteen hours, and he was started to crave something a little more personally fulfilling. rnrnIn October of 2000 Bill's father died of natural causes, and threw him into a tailspin. In losing his father, he gained a new perspective at "burning the candle at both ends". He resigned from CRC in 2001 to move to Colorado to begin his new life. Bill moved to Colorado Springs after receiving a job offer from Bill Warner to help design and construct Silver Stream Studios, which was to be a moderately sized studio. After completing the studio, there was a change for Bill Warner which justified his selling the brand new studio and moving away. After all was said and done, Bill moved into his home at the base of Pike's Peak where he still lives with his best friend and dog, Hoser. Bill's new goal was to build his own studio, and work from his house. In 2003 Bill started recording bands in the lower part of his house, some of which have gained a fairly large Colorado Springs fan base. After working for a few months with a small recording rig, Bill decided it was time to expand his house to also include a comfortable recording area, an isolation booth and a large space for him to work. At the end of 2003, Bill started designing his new work space. By the middle of 2004, he was up and running in his new studio. rnrnWhile Bill is still expanding, he has enough room to record a full band, as well as a bar and lounge area for his customers. Bill's current list of finished albums out of his studio include: "Porcelain Hand Jive", "Rent to Own", "Section 16", "Distant Warning", "Penelope Brain" (Originating in Australia), "Gemma" (Originating in Italy) and his reunion with "BZKT". Bill and Erik Bonner reunited and have finished several albums together, all in the name of fun. Bill's accomplishments and means of impressing everyone only seem to get better. Bill has finishing over 46 albums to date, and is always starting new ones. Bill hopes to expand his studio one day to better cater to all of Colorado Springs' musical projects. He knows that there are many people in the area that wish to record their music, if not just for themselves, but to potentially make their impression on the music industry. rnrnThis man, while mellow and low key, also happens to be amazingly accomplished and willing to have fun. His appeal comes from not only his extensive background in his engineering career but a penchant for being humble and easy to work with.
